Bali International Hospital (BIH), a new international  hospital owned by Indonesian government company located in Sanur Bali will open Neurology services in year 2024.

BIH Neurology Services provides outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services as well as diagnostic and therapeutic examinations. 

Neurology services include:

a.    General neurology (consultation and treatment) for neurological diseases such as:

migraine, vertigo, neck pain, shoulder pain, low back pain, knee pain, headache, muscle pain, dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson's, Bell's palsy, stroke screening, sleep disorders, attention deficit disorder, autism, meningitis and so on.

b.    Inpatient services: services for patients who requires hospitalization such as cases of stroke, head injury, brain tumor and so on.

c.    Emergency services: for patients who go to the emergency unit for cases such acute stroke, tetanus or rabies, epilepsy and so on.

d.    Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  supporting examinations that necessary to help establish the diagnosis of a neurological disease:

·  EEG (electroencephalography) is an equipment to record electrical activity in the brain, such in case of epilepsy.

· EMG (electromyography) is an examination tool to record electrical conduction activity in muscles, such in cases of poliomyelitis, neuropathy and so on. 

· TCD (transcranial doppler): a device to evaluate the flow of blood vessels in the brain, for example in cases of stroke, narrowing of blood vessels in the brain and so on.

·  Doppler Ultrasound: this tool can guide the Doctor in determining location of pain  and further proceed the therapy.

· TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation): provides stimulation to brain nerve cells so that the brain cells that are disrupted can work again, example: for post-stroke restoration or rehabilitation, Parkinson's, depression, chronic pain such as low back pain, language disorders (difficulty in speaking),  degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis, and so on.

·  DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography), is a method to examine condition of brain  blood vessels using contrast and X-ray device to get a clear picture of the vessels, hence further action can be taken.

· Intervention and Therapeutic Services, is an intervention as well as therapy services for example in the case of hemorrhage stroke where surgery is needed in the Cathlab to stop the bleeding. Example of the procedure: Thrombectomy, Embolectomy, Carotid stenting, Coiling aneurysm, and so on.

· Dry needling, a method of therapy by inserting filiform needles for relieving pain, for example, in case of headache, neck pain, pain back, tendinitis, muscle spasm, hip or knee pain, torn muscles (strains), fibromyalgia and tennis elbow.

· Botox injection, is the administration of Botulinum Neurotoxin A (BoNT-A) for cases of chronic migraine and hemifacial spasm (facial twitching).
